Episode 55: Learning From Past Masters

Terrastina takes the twins on a hike over basalt rock to a series of cliffs overlooking the river where native petroglyphs were painted many years ago. The stick figures depict elk, faces with wide eyes, and people with arcs over their heads, most with rays protruding from the arcs. The kids drew on the rocks, say the twins, just like we draw on the walls at home. Terrastina nods. That’s as good an explanation as any I have heard, she says. That night the twins cut out rayed arcs from construction paper and pin them to their dolls’s heads.
