Episode 54: Metaphors

Terrastina wakes in the middle of the night, damp with sweat. She touches Mazolli’s back. He turns to her. I had the worst nightmare, she says. A snake crawled into the house and lived in the oven. When we weren’t paying attention it slithered out and swallowed us, one by one. First the twins, then you, then it came after me. I tried to run, but it was too fast. At the end I was throwing mice at it to distract it. Mazolli listens carefully, then puts his arms around Terrastina. It’s okay, he says. It’s all better now.
