Episode 29: A Slight Confusion

Can we go see the swallows? ask the twins. Sure, says Mazolli, let’s go. They walk to the parking lot behind the post office. Above them, under the overhang, several brown globes made of mud hang like ripe melons. The twins point at swallows gliding into holes in the globes. They hear the mad chirping of chicks coming from inside. They’re feeding their babies, says one of the twins. That’s right, says Mazolli. Pretty soon the babies will grow up and fly away. When? ask the twins. Oh, says Mazolli, about the time they finish school and find love.
