Episode 75: It’s the Simple Things in Life

The huckleberries in the higher elevations ripen. Terrastina and Mazolli drive to the mountain with the twins. They bring baskets, pails, and some small toy buckets to collect the huckleberries. The bushes lie scattered in fields along the road. Terrastina parks the car and everyone gets out. The twins eat as many berries as they put in their pails. Terrastina finds a bush heavy with berries and whispers thanks to it as she carefully pulls off its bounty. Mazolli works quickly, going from bush to bush, filling container after container. This is fun, he says. I love huckleberry season.
