The phone rings too early, before the sun rises, waking both Mazolli and Terrastina. No phone call at four thirty ayem can be anything but bad news, says Mazolli. It’s a wrong number, says Terrastina. I’ll check anyway, says Mazolli. He gets out of bed and picks up the receiver. A few seconds later he returns to bed. You were right, he says. How did you know? I just know these things, says Terrastina. You sleep with a psychic. Haven’t you figured that out yet? I think, says Mazolli, I need to start counting on it from now on.
