Episode 90: The Memory of Magma

Terrastina and Mazolli take the twins to the national forest north of town. They descend a wooden stairway to a miles long cave tucked deep into the mountain. The twins take their lanterns and run ahead, wary of bats, and hoping to find discarded human bones, especially skulls. Mazolli reads a brochure as he walks. It says here that this cave was formed when the mountain erupted, back when it was still a volcano. How can they possibly know something like that? he asks. Shhh says Terrastina. She turns off her lantern. Listen. Can’t you hear the rocks breathing?
