Episode 264: Hydroglyphics

The hot water begins running out after Mazolli does only a sink load of dishes. He examines the water heater and touches the pipes leading into and out of its top. He calls a plumber who arrives the next day. Mazolli watches as the plumber removes a plate and pulls out a wad of insulation material to expose several wires and switches. Soon he has a diagnosis. Your element’s burned out, he says. I’ll get one from my truck. While the plumber retrieves the part, Mazolli studies the wiring like it is a complex script harboring some secret message.
