Episode 249: Candle Power

Terrastina centers a lit candle on the kitchen table. She and the twins stare at the burning wick for a long time. Terrastina passes her finger through the flame, quickly, so her skin doesn’t burn, but long enough for the softness of the fire to wrap itself momentarily around her lunule. She invites the twins to try. They instantly put their hands behind their backs, pulling on their arms, unwilling to defy anything so elemental as fire. Okay, says Terrastina. She passes her finger through the flame again. But I gotta tell you, you don’t know what you’re missing.
