Episode 235: This is Not a Pipe

On Sunday morning Terrastina finds a single shoe in the crosswalk near the house. It is a man’s left show, size eleven, with frayed laces. She leaves it where it is, thinking the owner may come back for it. That night she returns to the crosswalk. The shoe has been replaced by a red brick. She picks up the brick and takes it to the house. She places it on the door mat. Mazolli sees the brick and looks deeply puzzled. I almost hesitate to ask, he says. It helps to think of it as a shoe, says Terrastina.
