Episode 325: The Past is Never the Past

Mazolli sits on the front step and watches guests arrive for a wedding at the church across the street. The women and girls wear long dresses. The men and boys sport tuxedos. Some of the guests see Mazolli and wave at him. Mazolli waves back. One couple arrives late, after everyone else has gone in. They linger outside for a long time, smoking cigarettes and pacing nervously. Then the woman gets into the car and drives away. The man tosses a cigarette butt to the ground and enters the church. I wonder what that was all about, says Mazolli.
